Devlog 01


Although the Gnommates didn’t win at the gamejam (I had to make a lot of graphics, animation, and content in a short amount of time, leaving me less time for optimization), the enthusiasm is unbroken and I am constantly improving it. 

My future plans for Gnommates: 

Gnommates will be a larger pilot / learning project. Later, opponents and tower types with multiple mechanics will be added to the game. There will also be several more fields that will introduce the player nicely and make better use of the towers' abilities (!) 

Due to the speed of the gamejam, the tower system, sounds and some animations will definitely need to be improved. Larger long-term plans include a two-player mode (alas <3) in which the hordes must survive by sharing an energy and following a shared strategy. (Very long-term plans include the choice of tower cards, multiple types of robots, specific fields.)

Current update: 

  • The energy towers produce faster.
  • The shooter towers use less energy, but the opponents' health has increased a bit.
  • The range of the boxing gloves has been extended, making melee (close combat) less painful. Also it”s damaging opponents' towers but to a lesser extent.
  • The robot hussars are produced faster, cost less energy and their damage increases.
  • The player received a damage particle and sound effect for feedback.
  • Enemies' death animation has been improved.
  • Text changes, helptext has become more comprehensive.
  • And I and I made a little gameplay video:-)
